Imagination Technologies announced that its CRF4600 radio frequency (RF) IP has been integrated into Autotalks’ PLUTON2 RFIC transceiver, which is part of Autotalks’ V2V and V2X communication solutions. The IP is currently in the silicon validation stage and is expected to be in volume production within 2021.
The CRF4600 integrated in the PLUTON2 device is a highly flexible 5.9GHz V2X RF solution capable of supporting standards such as DSRC (IEEE802.11p), LTE-V2X and NR-V2X, as well as transmit and receive diversity antennas. It also supports dual-band Wi-Fi, IEEE 802.11n/ac, and 2×2 MIMO. This IP provides a compact, ultra-small form factor solution that reduces the cost of high-volume production with minimal peripheral components and is extremely flexible in size, form factor, and function.

The PLUTON2 RFIC is a low-power, high-performance, highly flexible, multi-standard-enabled radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC) that provides optimal RF transmitter/receiver functionality. By combining CRATON2/SECTON baseband devices, it can achieve the farthest V2X communication range available.
By integrating a pre-power amplifier (PA), low noise and high dynamic range optimization, fast gain adaptation, PLUTON2 maintains high RF system performance; supports uninterrupted operation in harsh in-vehicle and mobile environments, and Roof mounting is supported at high temperatures (up to 105 degrees Celsius).

V2X communication technology enables communication between vehicles and between vehicles and the surrounding environment. Unlike traditional sensors, such as vision sensors, which try to replicate the senses we already have, V2X adds new components to human and machine perception. The sensor can see around corners and any obstacles within a radius of more than a mile.
Autotalks’ chipsets were selected earlier this month for a C-V2X mass production project, one of the first to be deployed in China.
