Dalian Dayoushang Group launched an ultra-small PD fast charging power source solution based on ON Semiconductor products

On August 11, 2021, Dalian General Holdings, a leading semiconductor component distributor dedicated to the Asia-Pacific market, announced that its subsidiary Youshang launched an ultra-small PD fast charging based on ON Semiconductor’s NCP1342 controller IC source scheme.

In today’s information technology era, intelligent technology products have been closely related to people’s lives, especially the emergence of intelligent mobile Electronic devices such as mobile phones and tablets, which have greatly facilitated people’s lives. However, despite the rapid development of electronic equipment, its battery life has always been an urgent problem to be solved in the industry. Therefore, many manufacturers have chosen to use PD fast charging to improve the charging speed when they cannot solve the problem by increasing the battery capacity.

Based on ON Semiconductor NCP1342 controller IC, the PD fast charging power source solution launched by Dalian Dayou Shang adopts a new type of GaN material and has a maximum output power of 65W. In terms of design, this solution adopts the double-panel, the most simplified design concept, the overall size is only 51.5mmX51.5mmX31mm, and the upper and lower two pieces of copper are designed with about 1.0mm thick, which not only meets EMI but also has good thermal conductivity.

The core device of this solution is the ON Semiconductor NCP1342 controller IC, which has a proprietary valley lock circuit to ensure stable valley switching. By design, the NCP1342 employs Minimum Peak Current Modulation (MPCM) to rapidly reduce the switching frequency to ensure light load performance for high frequency designs. Not only that, but the NCP1342 has several key protection circuits built in to ensure robust converter performance.
