Trinamic launches scalable solution for high power stepper motors

The TMCM-1278 along with the PD60/86-1278 PANdrive™ features an advanced motion control feature set, providing a complete solution for driving and controlling high power stepper motors.

TRINAMIC Motion Control Ltd. announces its latest products, including the TMCM-1278 module and PD-1278 PANdrive, a smart motor solution available in NEMA24 and NEMA34. Controlled via a CAN bus interface, it supports Trinamic’s own TMCL firmware and CANopen for ease of use.

Housed in a special housing, this product is ideal for laboratory automation, manufacturing and factory automation, robotics and CNC machinery that require high power stepper motors up to 9A RMS with a supply voltage of 12..48V DC. As for holding torque, the PANdrive version offers up to 7.0Nm (PD86-3-1278)

“The TMCM-1278 and PD-1278 allow for easy system expansion with minimal assembly and programming. Depending on the use case, they can be easily expanded,” explains Michael Randt, founder and CEO of Trinamic. Can be added or swapped quickly without changing the system design. “You just connect a set of cables and you’re ready to go.

To ensure that even the larger NEMA34 motors run as quietly and precisely as possible, each product features StealthChop™ (silent operation at low speeds and standstill) and SpreadCycle™ (high rpm). Combined with the integrated SixPoint™ ramp generator and microstepping, the TMCM1278 series brings industry-leading drive and motion control performance to powerful stepper motors.

In addition to the industry standard protocol CANopen, engineers can also choose a TMCL version that allows stand-alone operation with the TMCL mini-PLC and can be programmed via the free and easy-to-use TMCL-IDE™. For further monitoring of the drive, the I/Os can be used as general purpose inputs or ABN encoder inputs.

Standalone modules TMCM-1278 and PANdrive smart motor solutions PD60-4H-1278 and PD86-3-1278 will be available through Trinamic’s distribution channels from February.
